Using Firefox 7.0.1, Flash 11.0.1.152 plugin installs OK in Windows XP Home but not in Windows XP Professional.

I don't know if this is related, but the page http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer displays OK in Win XP Home but shows up as text in Win XP Pro.

Clicking on the Download link does nothing, so I need to use Windows IE to download the Flash installer and start it manually. When I do, Flash installs OK in IE but not in FF.

Windows XP and Home are fairly similar, the main significant difference is in the way security and permissions are handled.

You have probably failed to install or update the Flash Player plugin on the XP Pro computer. Note IE & Firefox use different plugins for FlashPlayer.

See managing the flash plugin which includes information on testing and downloading flash Player.

Last week I followed these instructions: Installing the Flash plugin manually

That installed Flash 10. Then today, the usual Adobe update window prompted me to install Flash 11.0.1.152, which I did. Now all is OK.
